These chapters describe two necessary events for Saul to become king: the people have to accept Saul as king, and Samuel has to step aside as leader. These chapters also reveal two fundamental truths about a relationship with God. First, even if the people are unfaithful, God keeps His promise and brings about His plan. Second, humility empowers us to acknowledge our sins and find grace to help in times of need.
