Here's Jonathan again. Jonathan routinely reveals something about God's character. This is the last time we'll encounter him, so pay attention. In chapter 20, God's lovingkindness is highlighted in Jonathan's love for David. We learn that our love toward others reflects God's love toward us; it goes beyond what is required because that's God's character. It inspires others to love like God loves, and it is okay to hold each other accountable to this kind of love.
